Spirit of India

This series of images were shot on a 2 month trip to India. My aim was to capture the spirit of this magnificent country & its people.

India is, in my opinion, one of the most exciting places on earth - where the poorest people radiate the greatest dignity. The photos I most enjoyed taking were those that had spiritual leanings - pilgrims on the Ganga, monks in temples, sadhus performing devotions & so on.

The locations I shot in were as follows:

Delhi - the country's capital, located in Northern India on the banks of the river Yamuna.

Varanasi, Uttar Pradesh - one of the oldest cities in the world & the holiest city in India.

Bodhgaya, Bihar - The place of Buddha's enlightenment.

Haridwar, Uttaranchal - The Gateway to the Gods, & home to the six & twelve yearly Kumbh Mela Festival.

Dharamsala (McLeod Ganj & Bhagsu), Kangra - Home of the Tibetan Government In Exile & the Dalai Lama's Namgyal Monastery.

Vrindavan, Uttar Pradesh - the playground of Krishna.
